The Wedge City Lodge

The City Lodge Hotel Group is a conglomerate that includes renowned brands like City Lodge, Fairview, Courtyard Hotels, and City Lodge itself, with a total of 57 properties spread across South Africa. The ongoing urban revitalisation of Johannesburg's city centre presents a complex challenge: it demands the preservation of the area's rich cultural heritage while also providing modern accommodations for tourism and business, thus contributing to economic growth.

This project in particular, proved to be simultaneously demanding and gratifying for the professional team. The site's footprint was remarkably narrow, requiring constant navigation through traffic and negotiations with neighbours, all while maintaining a strict focus on safety. City Lodge emphasised the importance of the project, creating significant economic opportunities for local Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and subcontractors. The construction of the project started in 2014 and was successfully completed in 2015.

Cairnmead Industrial Consultants was appointed as the health and safety specialist to represent the client and ensure that all construction work was completed safely. Our dedicated safety consultant provided the necessary guidance, and we are proud to say that the team worked together to implement the safety recommendations. The Wedge City Lodge has, therefore, received our Stamp of Approval for excellent work completed. Thank you to all involved.
